The demo showcases a visually appealing design, with a polished look that catches the eye. However, the overall experience feels tedious and overwhelming, particularly due to the grid-based movement and combat system, reminiscent of games like XCOM or Heroes of Might and Magic. While this style may appeal to some, it didn’t resonate with me personally, as I found it clunky and less engaging.

A significant issue is the lack of clear guidance. The demo throws you in without much explanation, leaving you confused about what to do or how various elements function. This absence of tutorialization makes it hard to grasp the mechanics, which can feel frustrating for players trying to get a sense of the game’s flow.

That said, the demo seems to aim for a more advanced showcase rather than a beginner-friendly introduction, which is a bold choice but risks alienating players who need more direction. With some refinement, like clearer instructions or a more streamlined onboarding process, the experience could be more accessible and enjoyable. Overall, it has potential, but it needs work to feel cohesive and welcoming.

Hey! Thanks for the feedback. There’s absolutely a problem in this build with lack of onboarding. It’s built as a mechanical prototype and, as you picked up on, it’s a test of whether the systems can support the necessary depth for a game like this.

But then I put it public, and before doing that I really should have put more effort into the onboarding and tutorialisation. Lesson learned, I guess!

Anyway, thanks for playing and for taking the time to leave detailed feedback

I've had such a great time playing this game with both characters! The gameplay is really smooth and you quickly learn how to play the game even if you don't have any previous card gaming background.

Thanks! Really glad you enjoyed your time with it

This is a really cool game!! I'm excited for its future! Very Gloomhaven-esque.

Thanks for playing! I’ve had a bit of downtime over the last month, but looking forward to continuing with it soon, so hopefully will have some updates for you!
